Noel Marshall
Tributo a Noel Marshall (18 de Abril de 1931, Chicago - 30 de Junho de 2010) Escreveu, dirigiu, co-produziu e foi actor principal no filme Roar (1981), que também contou com sua então mulher Tippi Hedren, a sua enteada Melanie Griffith, e os seus filhos, John e Jerry de um casamento anterior com José Jaye. Roar foi é um filme único, cheio de acidentes, no qual actuam também tigres e leões. O filme levou onze anos até ficar pronto e US$ 17 milhões para fazer, e trouxe apenas US$ 2 milhões de receitas no mundo inteiro.
Marshall, que foi casado com Hedren 1964-1982, foi também produtor executivo de dois dos seus filmes, Guerra Mr. kingstreet e The Experiment Harrad (ambos de 1973). Um de seus filmes posteriores onde ele foi creditado como produtor executivo foi uma noite na vida de Jimmy Reardon (1988), estrelado por River Phoenix. Foi, no inicio da sua carreira produtor executivo do filme Exorcista.
Mas o seu filme mais marcante foi, sem dúvida, o Roar, um drama da vida selvagem feito com a sua famÃlia e mais de 100 leões, tigres, elefantes e outros animais selvagens. Tanto Marshall como Griffith foram atacados por leões durante as filmagens.

Tribute to Noel Marshall (April 18, 1931, Chicago -- June 30, 2010) He wrote, directed, co-produced and starred in the film Roar (1981), which also featured his then-wife Tippi Hedren, stepdaughter Melanie Griffith, and his sons Jerry and John from a previous marriage to Jaye Joseph. Roar was an accident-ridden film that featured tigers and lions. The film took eleven years and $17 million to make, and brought in only $2 million worldwide.
Marshall, who was married to Hedren from 1964 to 1982, was also an executive producer on two of her films, Mr. Kingstreet's War and The Harrad Experiment (both 1973). One of his later films where he was credited as executive producer was A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon (1988), starring River Phoenix. Previously he was executive producer of The Exorcist.
But his most remarkable film was undoubtedly 1981's Roar, a wildlife drama made whith his family and more than 100 lions, tigers, elephants and other wild animals. Both Marshall and Griffith were attacked by lions during filming.
A passion project or a personal folly on an epic scale, Roar was made over several years on the family ranch in California and advertised with the tagline: "There's never been a film like Roar - and there never will be again".
Marshall died of brain cancer on June 30, 2010.
